Do you really understand GRS certification? Friends who have learned some knowledge about textile and clothing recycling must have heard of words like "such and such product has passed GRS certification", but what exactly is GRS? Xiaoxin will show you 1. What is GRS GRS is the abbreviation of Global Recycled Standard in English, and its Chinese translation is "Global Recycled Standard for Textiles and Clothing". GRS is a third-party certification standard established for the use of recycled fibers after recycling waste textiles. It was originally formulated by the Dutch Control Alliance and implemented in November 2008. In January 2011, the Dutch Control Alliance transferred the copyright of GRS to the American Textile Exchange, which has a great influence in the world. 2. The specific manifestation of the connection between GRS and environmental protection GRS is an international textile standard whose goal is to increase the use of recycled materials in products and reduce/eliminate the harm caused by their production. More importantly, it allows retailers and consumers to understand which parts of a particular product are recycled materials and how to handle these materials in the supply chain. In short, it is the so-called "waste" utilization, turning "waste" into treasure, and reducing the harm of waste resources to the earth. 3. GRS includes content The GRS verification system is based on integrity, including traceability, environmental protection, social responsibility, recycling marks and general principles. Its specific characteristics are not only the sustainability of the use of recycled and recyclable raw materials, but also the environmental protection aspects of the elimination of processing aids containing harmful chemicals, sewage treatment management, energy conservation and emission reduction; the implementation of labor laws and regulations such as employment protection; environmental hygiene; corporate ethics are also strictly reviewed. During the review, the documents are verified, the site is confirmed, and the employees are asked to answer questions one by one according to the project list. After the review, the parts that do not meet the standards are required to be improved and improved. After meeting the certification requirements, a GRS certificate of conformity will be issued, and a strict annual review will be conducted once a year afterwards. 4. How to obtain GRS certification The principle of GRS certification is that the proportion of recycled components in the final product must be at least ≥20% (more than 50% can use the GRS logo). The principle of GRS certification is: from raw material suppliers → chemical fiber processing → yarn → textile → printing and dyeing + finishing → fabric → finished product industry or trading companies The entire supply chain needs to be supervised and passed the GRS certification. The companies in the entire supply chain are closely connected by the TC transaction certificate. Starting from the initial raw material transaction, the TC transaction certificate must be applied for from the GRS certification agency and given to the downstream companies. The downstream companies need to have the upstream TC transaction certificate and the invoices with the upstream, the upstream and downstream purchase and sales contracts, the upstream delivery notes, delivery notes, total balance sheets, etc. to apply for the TC transaction certificate. Once a company in the supply chain fails to obtain the TC transaction certificate or fails to obtain the GRS certification, the GRS supply chain will be terminated, and all products will be regarded as non-certified raw materials and non-certified products, and the GRS standards cannot be implemented.
